Message I've made about 50 passes in 3 different cars and I'm still learning and tweaking my launches. The best I've ever done in my Z was 1.92 60' with MT ET street IIs. I dumped the clutch at 6k and still managed to bog the engine. I'm going again in a few days and I'm going to try some slip clutch launches to try and avoid bogging. When you get them hot they're virtually impossible to spin.

With street tires I managed 2.162 60' by reving to about 3k then dumping the clutch and let the tires spin some. By the time the tires stopped spinning I was making boost. More than 3k and I would spin all the way through 1st, less than 3k and I would bog. The main thing about street tires for me was it was very hard to be consistent.

Your buddies running slower than expected in my experience is totally normal. You can't expect to go out 1st time and run what the magazines publish. Some of it is driver errors/incosistancies, some will be mild mechanical problems with the cars, you also have weather effects. Go to dragtimes.com and check their density altitude calculator and you'll be amazed how much temp and humidity effect your times/speed. Good luck and have fun.
